Plan Overview

BrightTally plans determine which features become available in both the web dashboard and the WordPress plugin. The table below summarises key differences:

Plan WordPress Access Forms Beta Advanced Analytics
Starter Poll embeds, shortcode tools Coming soon Core metrics
Pro Everything in Starter + team roles Early access available Segment filters
Agency All features + priority support Included Cross-site analytics

Roles

  • Owner — full access to billing, integrations, and workspace settings.
  • Admin — manage polls, forms, team members and integrations (includes WordPress).
  • Contributor — create & edit polls/forms but cannot change billing or integrations.
  • Viewer — read-only analytics access.

WordPress requirement: You must be an Admin or Owner in BrightTally and a WordPress administrator to connect the plugin.

Mapping to WordPress

WordPress Role Minimum BrightTally Role Capabilities
Administrator Admin Connect/disconnect plugin, manage embeds, refresh sync
Editor Contributor Insert shortcodes, browse polls/forms inside WordPress
Author Contributor Embed existing polls/forms in their own posts
Contributor Contributor Embed existing polls/forms (pending review)

If a WordPress user embeds a poll but lacks the BrightTally permission, the shortcode will output a friendly notice reminding them to request elevated access.

Upgrading Access

  1. Visit BrightTally → Team Settings inside the web dashboard.
  2. Invite teammates by email and assign roles.
  3. Upgrade plans under Billing if you need forms, multi-site analytics, or advanced data exports.

Best Practices

  • Keep at least two admins in BrightTally for redundancy.
  • Rotate OAuth connections when administrators leave your organisation.
  • Use Agency plan workspaces to manage multiple client sites with shared templates.
